A week or so ago, photographers in the Sacramento Photographers group on Facebook were challenged to post one black and white image a day for each of five days...the post could be an existing image or a new one...shot originally in black and white or in color...
I'm such an amateur that I rarely post anything to that page...and especially not black and white images...I read once that a really good photographer exposes for light in such a way that, even if he or she shoots in color, the resulting images will look equally good in black and white...that this, in fact, is the ultimate test of what delineates a great image from schlock...
And it is also the reason I almost never use this shooting mode...or even consider creating black and white images from my color ones...it might ruin my self-assessment that at least I deserve to be called a serious hobbyist photographer...; )
It won't however stop me from posting them here...or putting them on the home page of my website for all the world...all two readers...to see...
No, I'm willing to risk embarrassment in front of my friends...and one day I may even find the courage to face the Sacramento Photographers...just not this week...
