Junkie...

I'm finally ready to come clean...my name is Kathy Bridges and I am a junkie...I read about 600+ RSS feeds a day...OK, so I skim the headlines and read only the things that truly interest me...but still...I deserve some credit for reading at all...

Now, thanks to Google...which is dropping its support for RSS on July 1...I'm looking for an alternative source to provide my daily fix...seriously, it's like trying to find a new dealer...someone with a quality product that's delivered when, where and how you want it...and in this case is also free, unlike those dime bags on the street...

I've tried a few options so far...Feedly being the best among them...but even Feedly leaves me craving the simple NetNewsWire interface I'm so used to viewing...I want sub-sub folders...I want to sort by feed...I want a list preview mode that allows me to quickly skim the titles while simultaneously viewing the related articles...after a long search, it seems this is just too much to ask...

Some people are happy that Google is dropping its support...these people believe that other companies will step in a do a better job...eventually this may be true...and for now, I believe that Google's RSS implementation is one of the best things it's ever done...especially the extensibility that allowed third party developers to connect and sync their applications...and NetNewsWire syncs pretty much flawlessly...to every device I own...read it once and its gone unless I star it for later...just as it should be...

Over the next few days, I'll be test driving every alternative interface out there...if you've got any great suggestions, please make them...otherwise, I'll be jonesing...big time...

If you see me walking down the street...looking strung out...and hitting up every other junkie along the way...you'll know I'm still looking...
