Intention...

Have you ever practiced setting an intention for every thing you are about to do...before you do it?...I've been doing this for a few weeks...part of the personal development class I've been taking...

The idea is to create the outcome you want in advance...by thinking about it...imagining it...planning for it...

For instance, when I ordered my license plates for my car...yes, four months ago...I selected the DMV Office in Davis, California as the place I wanted them shipped...when the card arrived yesterday saying they were ready, I got online and made an appointment for next week to pick them up...then my husband offered to take care of my mom today, so I decided I'd drop in...without an appointment...and see what happened...my intention was to get in and out in under 15 minutes...and have plates on my car as soon as possible so that the police will quit stopping me...

As I was driving there, a friend called...when she learned where I was going, she asked why I would ever go to Davis...a sentiment echoed by my housekeeper...I just smiled and said I intended to be in and out in 15 minutes...choosing the Davis Office was part of the plan...smaller, quieter and better organized than the office in Sacramento...and equidistant to my home...

And what do you know?...here's the parking lot when I arrived at 11:15 AM...and there was not one person...appointment or "non"...ahead of me in line...it still took 15 minutes...because the same guy that handled my "pre-appointment" work also had to issue me a number...so that I could sit down...and wait for him to call my number...so I could get up and go back to his window to finish the transaction...

Hmmm...maybe next time I'll set my intention for 5 minutes...
