Have you ever been taken by complete surprise to discover that you like learning a new skill?...I've just realized that I may love designing websites...at least, the simple ones...and I'm learning it's possible to create something special even when you have only a few "assets", i.e., images and other content.
As I wrote about awhile ago, I had a great experience working on the site for 58˚ & Holding Co....I thought that was probably a fluke...after all, I got to work the Matthew Parker, a dream client, and my business associate Sue Evans, a dream partner...and I had the fun of participating in a real photo shoot...and seeing my photos come to life on the "big" screen...you know I mean the Internet, right?...
Then, last week, I got the opportunity to work on another design...for Sacramento esthetician Terri Hoblit...someone I know because she has been caring for my skin for awhile...I've never had great skin, and Terri has gotten it in the best shape it's ever been in...which is saying something at my age...and after all the abuse I've heaped on it for decades...
Terri recently decided to open a new business...for many years, she owned the most popular day spa in Davis...then she sold it, moved to Sacramento and went to work for one of the premiere medi spas in the area...
Now she's decided to go into business for herself again...this time no team...just Terri...doing treatments only for private clients...and also doing something new and really fun...microderm parties...she takes her services on the road...to busy moms that have a difficult time getting away during the day...to girlfriends getting together to catch up...to bridal parties so everyone will look their very best on the big day...
Five days ago, when she asked for my help designing her website, she wasn't sure exactly what she wanted...since then, as that Virginia Slims commercial used to say..."we've come a long way, baby."...
With a single photo of Terri and another of a peony...from my personal collection...we worked together to establish a business name, get the domain registered, design an identity package and business card, create a website and Facebook business page...and we launched yesterday!
I've confirmed for myself that I really do like doing this stuff...and Terri thinks the site looks fabulous...which is exactly what I think she has done for my skin...and she didn't start with much to work with either...
Thanks for you business, Terri!
