I said a final goodbye to Google Reader yesterday...it was especially sad to bid adieu to my beloved NetNewsWire app, until today my favorite RSS aggregator for the Mac and my iOS devices...and I had to let it go...its latest revisions just didn't keep pace with the development frenzy that produced better alternatives in a shorter time...
Although I used both of these RSS services until the very last moment, it wasn't because I was procrastinating about this change...with months of notice it was coming, I had plenty of time to plan an alternative approach...no, I used them as long as I could because they both served my news cravings in a way no other combination of tools could...or can do now...they may have outlived either their usefulness or Google's interest in maintaining them...and at one time, together, they offered the best service available for the Mac...
They say when one door closes, another one opens...so I finally decided today to say hello to Feedly...it's the solution I settled on after trying every other alternative I could find...and maybe one day I will come to love it as much as the items it replaces...and for now, it is an uneasy peace...
