Among my favorite people is a local Sacramento artist...John Weber...I saw and fell in love with his work long before we met in person...and I feel blessed to be surrounded by a few of his paintings and pastels...they enliven my living space, my working space and my being...
So it seemed only natural when I knew I was going to Paris to plan a visit to Sennelier...to select a special gift for John...as a small thank you for the great beauty he has brought to my life...
Sennelier is an art supply store...on the left bank of the Seine...near the famous Ecole des Beaux-Arts art school and the Louvre museum...the store has been in continuous operation...and owned by the same family...since 1867...it is as famous for its paints as it is for its customers...
Senneiler is distinguished for hand-selecting the pigments it uses to produce its paints...and for providing paints and pastels to Picasso, Cézanne, Gaugin and Van Gogh...it is a store unlike any place I have ever shopped...solid wood cabinetry from floor to ceiling on every wall...filled to overflowing...teeming with every imaginable supply...plus paints, pastels, water colors, inks and more in an astonishing array of colors...
It was the perfect place to select a unique gift for John...and also an opportunity to shoot images...which I did with the owner's permission...I sent these photos to John while I was still in Paris so he too could appreciate the beauty of the storefront and its chock-full interior...
