Has anyone ever said anything so incongruous to your experience that you found yourself wondering if you really heard it correctly? That happened to me last night...
I was meeting a friend for drinks...she was running late, so I was chatting with the bartender...a couple sitting next to me joined the conversation...about travel...the man asked if any of us had been to Paris...
We talked for a few minutes before I asked him when he had been there...he got an unhappy...distasteful...look on his face and replied "I tried Paris last year"...
Hmmm...tried?...what could that mean?
So I asked him if he really hadn't enjoyed his stay there...he said maybe it would have gone better if "Paris had tried me"...
I'm still shaking my head in wonder...one of my favorite cities...and someone has been there...and not seen the wonder...
